On 11 February 11 2019, the Uztekstilprom Association held a meeting with a delegation of business circles of the Kyrgyz Republic headed by Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use of the Kyrgyz Republic (CPEP) J.Sagynbayev.

The meeting discussed the current state and prospects for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the enterprises of the two countries in the textile and garment and knitwear industry, in particular, the promotion and trade of textile products, the realization of co-production of finished products and their subsequent export to third-country markets.

The Uzbek side organized a presentation of the production and export potential of the domestic textile industry, a favorable investment climate, a developed scientific and educational base for the training and advanced training of personnel.

In particular, there was a growth in the volume and diversification of the range of mutual trade. So, by the end of 2018, exports of textile products to Kyrgyzstan amounted to US$70 million dollars.

Following the meeting, agreements were reached on the organization of business visits of the Kyrgyz Republic study visits to domestic textile enterprises Bakan Tex and Uztex Group during a visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan for targeted development of bilateral cooperation.

For reference: For the period from January to October 2018, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan reached US$325 million, which is 50% more compared to the same period last year.
