Uzbekistan Allows Duty-Free Import of 82 Types of Materials

Uzbekistan has introduced significant customs incentives for domestic manufacturers. According to a presidential decree dated January 19, Uzbekistan has officially set import duties to zero on 82 types of industrial raw materials and semi-finished products. The new preferential regime will be in effect for two years — until January 1, 2027.

It should be noted that this practice is not new for the country. Customs preferences for these materials were first introduced in October 2021, but expired on January 1, 2024. After a two-year pause, the government decided to resume and extend support for the real sector of the economy in order to reduce the cost of finished products.

The list covers strategically important materials for various industrial sectors. A significant portion of the list consists of components for the textile and chemical industries.

Key duty-free items include:

  • Chemical products: caustic soda, potassium hydroxide, castor oil, various carbides and peroxides.

  • Dyes and reagents: organic and textile dyes, titanium dioxide-based pigments, polypigment pastes, and vitreous enamels for ceramics.

  • Polymers and plastics: polypropylene, vinyl chloride polymers, acetate films, and nylon tapes.

  • Textile raw materials: wool and cotton fabrics, linen fabrics, artificial fur, synthetic threads, pile, and lace.

  • Technical materials: asbestos, filter paper, plywood, fiberglass products, as well as lighter parts and primary batteries.
