Textile workers of Uzbekistan will receive billions of dollars for export development

In Uzbekistan, a large-scale two-year program for the financial recovery and expansion of the light industry’s capacity has been approved. The main goal of the initiative is the large-scale entry of domestic products into global markets, which will require attracting about $4.7 billion in foreign investment and creating 80,000 new jobs in the coming years.

The implementation of these plans is based on significant growth in production indicators. In 2026, production output is planned to increase by 9% to 146 trillion soums, while in 2027 growth is expected to accelerate to 10%, bringing the figure to 167 trillion soums. To modernize production capacities, foreign capital will be actively attracted to the sector: investment volumes will amount to $2.2 billion in 2026 and increase to $2.5 billion in 2027.

Alongside production growth, the country’s export potential will also be strengthened. Exports are expected to reach $4 billion in 2026 and grow to $4.5 billion by 2027. At the same time, a key driver will be sales through international e-commerce platforms, the volume of which is expected to increase from $700 million to $1 billion over two years.

To achieve these results, the state will provide comprehensive support to enterprises. Using funds from the Light Industry Support Fund, lean manufacturing systems will be introduced at factories. To reduce energy costs, companies will be offered loans at an annual rate of 6% for up to four years for the construction of solar power plants. Assistance with participation in international exhibitions is also предусмотрена.

An important stage of the strategy will be the opening of official representative offices of the Textile Industry Agency in eight countries worldwide, including the United States, China, Germany, and Turkey. This will make it possible to establish direct cooperation with 40 new foreign brands and sourcing companies.

Within the country, the distribution of support will become more targeted: all enterprises will be divided into “green,” “yellow,” and “red” categories. Based on their actual financial condition, factories will receive individual packages of benefits and loans, ensuring the most effective integration of Uzbek textiles into the global market.
