Uzbekistan has increased textile production fourfold
Last year, exports exceeded $3 billionIn Uzbekistan, textile production has increased 4.2 times over the past seven years. This was announced at a meeting chaired by the president.
Last year, the export of Uzbek textiles amounted to $3.1 billion, while the production volume amounted to 94 trillion soums.
It was noted at the meeting that problems arose in important export markets of Uzbekistan due to exchange rate fluctuations, as a result of which export figures were $200 million lower than projected.
According to the President, the textile industry provides employment for 570,000 people.
To analyze the problems in the industry, an online meeting was held, which was attended by more than 100 entrepreneurs.
During the meeting, it became known that the share of high-value-added products was not high enough, and the share of finished products in total production did not meet expectations. At the same time, exports of finished products amounted to $1.3 billion.
The textile industry also has the opportunity to produce products worth $15 billion from its own raw materials.
