An international company will help Uzbekistan find new foreign markets for textile products

Online talks were held between Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev, Deputy Director of the Light Industry Development Agency Rukhullo Zikrillaev, and Director of H&M Group for Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Africa region Ziaur Rahman, reports a correspondent of the Dunyo news agency.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of broader involvement of Uzbek textile products in the global supply chains of international brands, increasing exports of finished products with high added value, as well as entering new foreign markets.

Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev spoke about the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, measures to attract and support foreign investors, as well as the opportunities created for them. It was noted that in recent years a number of reforms have been carried out in the light industry sector in the country, significant production potential has been formed, and a complete value chain has been created - from the cultivation of raw cotton to the production of yarn, fabrics, their dyeing and finishing, as well as finished sewing and knitwear products.

In particular, it was emphasized that all raw cotton grown in Uzbekistan is processed domestically, the volume of light industry exports has reached 4 billion dollars, and domestic products are supplied to the markets of 75 countries.

According to H&M regional head Ziaur Rahman, the company has almost 30 years of experience in sourcing textiles and ready-made clothing in international markets, as well as managing global supply chains.

"We are aware of the existence of a complete production chain in Uzbekistan - from cotton raw material to finished products," he noted. "In addition, trade preferences when entering the European market, state support for producers, and the country’s advantageous geographical location in relation to European markets are important competitive advantages."

During the talks, practical mechanisms for establishing cooperation with H&M were also considered.

In particular, the possibility of using the procurement opportunities offered by H&M to promote Uzbek light industry products to international brands and major retail chains was discussed.

In addition, it was proposed to involve the company’s many years of international experience as expert support in areas such as adapting local producers to the requirements of H&M and other global brands, forming an assortment of export-oriented products, increasing the marketing and sales potential of enterprises, establishing direct contacts with international buyers, and attracting new export orders.

The H&M representative expressed interest in these proposals and confirmed readiness to cooperate in promoting Uzbek textile products among leading brands in Europe and other markets, as well as in attracting practical export orders for domestic enterprises.

As a result of the talks, an agreement was reached to organize a business mission of an H&M delegation to Uzbekistan, within the framework of which company representatives will be able to directly familiarize themselves with the production capabilities of enterprises in the textile and sewing-knitwear industry.
